Supporting Healthcare Workers in Trauma and Transition

Healthcare workers often shoulder invisible grief and moral injury, especially after the pandemic and in these times of so many attacks on healthcare.

As healthcare workers, we give so much of ourselves in service to others. When the pressures of this work, loss, and devastating systemic change add up—it’s hard to know how to keep moving forward and continue to serve. Over time, this weight can leave us exhausted, disconnected, or questioning the meaning that drew us to this path.

“The expectation that we can we immersed in suffering and loss daily and not be touched by it is as unrealistic as expecting to be able to walk through the water without getting wet.”

~Rachel Remen

Signs It May Be Time for Support

  • Emotional exhaustion, compassion fatigue or burnout

  • Feeling numb, hopeless, or disconnected with meaning

  • Experiencing intrusive thoughts or flashbacks after a critical event (s)

  • Difficulty sleeping (falling asleep, staying asleep)

  • Changes in concentration - difficulty staying focused or hyper focus at work

  • Challenges with regulating emotions either at work or at home

  • Strain on relationships at home

  • When employee assistance programs or workplace supports aren’t enough

A collaborative approach

I draw on evidence-based practices in trauma care and years of frontline experience to create a safe space for healthcare workers. Together we focus on restoring connection and meaning in your path as a healer. This is not psychotherapy—this is legally protected confidential care rooted in clinical chaplaincy and advocacy — a place to process what you carry as a clinician. Sessions are practical and grounded in the realities of healthcare work in these times. This work is designed to meet you where you are at—we can meet over zoom on your lunch break -if you can get one - online at a time that works for you or along a trail in the hills or at the ocean after work.
